همانطور كه مي دانيد بر اساس مباني و اصول علم، همه چيز مشمول يك قاعده ثابت مي شود كه به موجب اين قاعده آن چيز يا درست است يا غلط. گرچه ممكن بود در مورد "درستي" يا "نادرستي" چيزي ترديد داشته باشند، ليكن در مورد يك چيز، هيچ ترديدي نداشتند و آن اينكه هر پديده‌اي يا "درست" است يا "نادرست". در اين زمينه مثالهاي فراواني را مي توان ارائه داد: مثلاً هركسي مي تواند بگويدكه اتمها ارتعاش مي كنند يا نمي كنند، يا اينكه علف سبز است و قرمز نيست و خيلي چيزهاي ديگر. به عبارت ديگر در يك پاسخ دلخواه، نظير سبز بودن يا قرمز بودن علف، كه مشخص كننده جواب صحيح يا غلط است، حالت ميانه‌اي  مطرح نيست. اما اين مثالها را، كه در آنها براي هر مسأله‌اي تنها يك جواب آري يا نه صادق است، نبايد به همه چيز تعميم داد. اشتباه علم، تعميم اين موضوع به تمام پديده ها بود. در منطق و رياضيات نيز همين استدلال حاكم بوده است: هر چيزي يا درست است يا غلط؛ بر اين اساس، موضوعات منطقي و رياضي نيز يا كلاً درست هستند يا كلاً نادرست، سفيد يا سياه، يك يا صفر. مثال هاي زيادي را مي توان ارائه داد مثلا مشاهده مي کنيد که در برخي کشورها انسان را از 18 سالگي به بالا بزرگسال مي گويند و خيلي قطعي، خشک و يکدفعه شخص 18 ساله را بزرگسال فرض مي کنند و اگر شخص يک روز قبل از 18 سالگي باشد به هيچ وجه از نظر قانون بزرگسال محسوب نمي شود.

پل گلدن گیت که در طول چهار سال سال و با صرف هزینه 35 میلیون دلار ساخته شد، از نظر جذب توریست در جهان بسیار شناخته شده است. اصلی ترین فراخنای معلق این پل 1280 متر ارتفاع دارد که 27 سال است که رکورد دار جهان می باشد. این پل دارای دو برج به بلندی 314 متر است که بدین ترتیب در حدود 55 متر از بنای تاریخی واشینگتن "واشینگتن مانیومنت" بلند تر است. پنج پایه این پل در راستای آن تا عمق 130 متری دریا فرو رفته است. طراحی پل با تقلید از بن مایه "آرت دکو تم" انجام شد. شیار عریض و عمودی پشتاره قسمت بالایی برج تابش نور آفتاب را در روی پل تشدید می کند.

تماشای غروب آفتاب از روی پل گلدن گیت بسیار منظره زیبا و جالبی است. وقتی مردم بر روی آن می ایستند می توانند پل "ترانسامریکا"(tranamerica)، برج "کویت"(coit) و حتی نمای بیرونی پل "بای"(bay) را ببینند. در اواخر بعد از ظهر منظره رنگارنگ و زیبایی در پل پدید می آید. برج های این پل کابل های معلق پل را محکم نگه می دارد و بالای برج بسیار کوچکتر از پایین آن است. این برج 160 متر از سطح جاده پل بلندتر است. پل گلدن گیت، سانفرانسیسکو را به مارین کانتری متصل می سازد و طول این جاده 7/1 مایل است که می توان این مسیر را با اتومبیل، دوچرخه و یا پیاده طی کرد.
